Player Ratings | Everton 0-1 Leicester City

Jordan Pickford – 5

Didn’t have all too much to do against a pretty tame Leicester side today but spilled a shot once when he was required which Kurt Zouma had to spare his blushes from, and couldn’t get down quick enough to save Jamie Vardy’s goal, although he wasn’t given much help in the events leading up to it.

Jonjoe Kenny – 7

Everton’s best player today in my opinion, really taking his chance after Silva dropped (or rested) his captain. He made a few excellent tackles and put a couple of good crosses in too, apart from one in particular late on which summed up Everton’s day by flying in the wrong direction. Put much more effort in more than many others out there.

Michael Keane – 4

Not a great day for the centre-half, who gifted Leicester the only goal of the game. He made another mistake afterwards and had to have his blushes spared too, despite making some decent first-half interventions to stop Leicester getting through.

Kurt Zouma – 7

Solid performance from Zouma, always reliable when called upon and keen to push forward when possible too. Took a nasty knock in the first half after Vardy sent him flying into the advertising boards, but there was probably more injury to the advertising boards.

Lucas Digne – 6

Hit a couple of free kicks into the wall before duties were swapped to Sigurdsson, but still put the effort in down the left. Didn’t put the ball in the mixer as much as he has on other occasions, but always a relatively consistent performer.

Idrissa Gueye – 7

Tenacious in the challenge as per, and can tell he is trying to improve on the ball too. Didn’t give it away as much as we’ve seen at times this season, and stopped Leicester in their tracks when needed.

Andre Gomes – 5

He needed a rest. First to be sacrificed by Silva, the midfielder really should have been rotated today after looking tired against Brighton last time out. Wasteful on the ball at times, despite trying to cover defensively whenever he could.

Theo Walcott – 4

Makes some great runs but never able to add anything at the end of it, which enrages Evertonians every week. Was brought off today to barely any applause, despite running round a fair bit.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – 6

Largely frustrated today, and wasn’t able to find a way through a deep-sitting Leicester side. Less effective when moved deeper, as usual.

Richarlison – 6

Is he really better on the left? Didn’t find much space to exploit on this occasion, but did have a couple of chances which he was left to rue. Tried to make things happen on the ball, but another player who endured a frustrating day.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 4

Barely noticed he was playing today. Didn’t offer nearly enough up front on this occasion. Really needs competition in January.

SUBS:

Bernard (Gomes, 62) – 7

Bright off the bench and tried to make things happen, but couldn’t create a clear-cut chance. Interesting to see him in the No.10 role, though.

Cenk Tosun (Walcott, 70) – 6

Had a couple of decent chances but couldn’t make it count. Stung Schmeichel’s gloves with a decent effort before the ‘keeper saved another shot of his from close range.
