Everton takes on Brentford FC at Goodison Park in a massive game for the Toffees.
Everton currently sits 2 points above both Leeds United and Burnley and could confirm their survival with a win on Sunday, provided Leeds lost their game against Brighton & Hove Albion.
3 points would put the Toffees on 39 points, with a game in hand on teams above, including Brentford, Southampton and Newcastle United.
Brentford In-Form
Brentford has had a relatively strong end of season revival and doesn’t look an easy matchup for Everton in their 3rd final push to achieve safety.
With only 1 loss in their last 5 games and convincing wins coming up against the likes of West Ham and Southampton, it looks as though Everton may have a tough challenge on their hands.
The Bees are all but safe for this season, and Thomas Frank’s men may be less inclined to pull out all the stops for a win with nothing to play for.
Brentford will undoubtedly already be looking to next season’s campaign as the season draws to a close.
The Goodison Park Effect
Everton will be hoping for more of the same at Goodison Park.
A poor outing against Watford has put the pressure back on the Toffees to get back to winning ways this Sunday.
However, a home game in front of the Everton faithful will be exactly what the players need to push for a monumental win.
The atmosphere in the last few weeks has been nothing short of phenomenal and has sure to have helped the blues muster every ounce of determination to stay up.
The fans have been a credit to the club during this period and will undoubtedly be rocking again at Goodison Park this Sunday.
Survival Hopes
Again, of course, Frank Lampard and the players will be abstaining from looking too much at the teams around them.
However, a win today and a loss for Leeds United would all but confirm Everton’s survival in the Premier League.
An enormous incentive for the Toffees to come out firing on Sunday.
With Leeds at home to Brighton tomorrow, the Peacocks have everything to play for. However, Brighton, based on the current form, could have too much for the West Yorkshire outfit to cope with.
A battering last time out by the Seagulls against an abysmal Manchester United team will surely give Graham Potter’s men massive confidence they can breeze past a struggling Leeds side.
One To Watch – Richarlison
It’s no coincidence that Richarlison keeps occupying the ‘players to watch’ section.
The Brazilian has been phenomenal at Goodison Park, and we expect nothing less this Sunday by the forward man.
His determination and ability have been significant factors in increasing Everton’s chances of survival.
His passion for the club is evident.
Richarlison looks set to lead the line again, with Demarai Gray and Anthony Gordon occupying the right and left flanks.
After a much-needed rest, hopefully, the players look rearing and ready to go.
One To Watch – Christian Eriksen
Christian Eriksen is still a world-class talent. Nothing has changed in that regard.
The Danish international is still playing most midfielders off the park every week and continues to be a significant threat to any team.
No doubt, the number 21 will be hugely involved with his unbelievable passing ability and technique.
Everton must find some way to contain him.
Final Thoughts
A win against Brentford could be the deciding factor for the rest of the season. It really is all in Everton’s hands.
