Salomon Rondon could be set to leave Everton after fresh reports coming from Spain this morning. According to Marca The Forward is working to terminate his Everton contract this January transfer window and there is already interest in the 33 year old Striker from clubs in Spain, Italy, Turkey, Portugal and England.

Rondon arrived at Everton on Deadline Day in the Summer of 2021 on a free transfer from Dalian Pro to join up with Rafa Benitez once again. The Striker has played 31 times for the blues while scoring 3 times. Frank Lampard has had to call on Rondon  7 times this season due to our lack of attacking and he hasn’t impressed.

The Venezuelan international is slight controversial figure with the Everton fanbase with the fans not believing the striker is good enough to play for the toffees and he was signed by Rafa Benitez after all.

Toffee Blues says;

3/5 – Salomon Rondon leaving Everton this coming January only feels right and is best for both parties. The Striker’s initial Everton contract expires this summer but the club do have an option to extend it by a further year, however it looks to be very unlikely to happen. I think Rondon will always be remembered at Everton for being one of Rafa Benitez’s boys as well as Benitez’s overreliance on Rondon , which probably isn’t a fair assessment of the forward after all he was initially signed to be a back up for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

If Everton are to allow Salomon Rondon to leave this can only be a good sign however as it would only leave Everton with Neal Maupay and Dominic Calvert-Lewin as their only attacking options which would make you think Everton are likely to dip into the January Transfer Market to sign a new centre forward who provide Maupay and DCL with adequate competition and cover.

If this is to be the end of Salomon Rondon’s Everton career then I bid him adieu and wish him well for what is left of his footballing career. Rondon and Everton were simply just a combo that were never meant to really mix. We’ll always have his brace against Non-League side Boreham Wood.
