REPORT | CHELSEA WOMEN 7-0 EVERTON WOMEN

Everton Women performed well in the opening 10 minutes, but defending champions Chelsea quickly erased that momentum, handing the Toffee’s a 7-0 battering away at Kingsmeadow.

Dominating their Merseyside visitors, the London team proved why they are still in the title race once again this season. The game was well out of Everton’s reach after conceding five first half goals.

In just 12 minutes, the hosts took the lead thanks to Guro Reiten. Sam Kerr added a second goal with a strong header, but her evening was cut short due to injury. Her successor Pernille Harder made it three, Jessie Fleming then added a fourth. Fleming added her second goal of the game right before the half to bring the score to five.

Everton Women made every effort to counteract Chelsea’s merciless goal threats in the second half, but Chelsea were still able to score a sixth goal late in the game.

On the 81st minute, Pernille Harder scored her second goal of the game with a first-time strike that eluded Courtney Brosnan and was sent into the back of the net.

As Everton endured a forgettable performance in the capital city, Erin Cuthbert added a 7th to crush the Toffee’s in added time.

Everton Women are back in action in the WSL on Wednesday the 17th of May at Walton Hall Park, kick off is at 6.15pm.
