Everton prepare to take on a also struggling Sheffield United side Saturday at 12:30 PM. The Blues will look for their first win of the Premier League season but Sheffield will also be searching for their first point(s).
Everton played midweek in the Carabao Cup against a poor Doncaster Rovers side and left it late. We cannot take much from that game, but some positives from the match came in the second half. Beto looked active and dangerous, something we’ve been lacking thus far. We are a toothless team and hopefully a proper “Dyche” striker can turn that around. Danjuma also found the back of the net, and looked better in his natural position.
Beto changes the entire landscape for us, a big, athletic striker is what we’ve been calling out for, but most importantly he is HEALTHY. Dyche can play his style of ball now more effectively and I do believe we will not waste chances like we have before.
Injuries do affect both teams in a pretty significant way. Everton will be missing Jack Harrison, Seamus Coleman, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dele Alli. Iwobi and Maupay both will be departing the club. Dwight McNeil has been training again and could possibly be in the 18.
Sheffield are missing a handful of players as well, They include: Ben Osborn, Rhian Brewster, Max Lowe and Rhys Norrington-Davies.
Paul Heckingbottom plays a fast style of football with high pressing off the ball. He plays his wide wing-backs in a 3-4-3 formation but plays centrally quite narrow. When Sheffield are defending, it is a low block they choose to sit in a very compact. Everton will look to break down Sheffield with plenty of crosses and long balls into Beto.
This is a crucial match that we need to get control of early and play the tempo we want. We did not look comfortable Wednesday but we did adapt to the game and Dyche made changes that in the end won the game for us.
Beto is going to be the X-factor Saturday but there are 10 other players in blue with him on the pitch. Hopefully those players play to the level we expect them to.
