Hello, and welcome back to the penultimate loan round-up of the year, as the season reaches its business end. Let’s dive straight in and see how the lads are doing…
National League:
Harry Tyrer- 1st out of 24- Chesterfield
Tyrer put pen to paper this week, extending his stay at Everton for another year after an impressive campaign at Chesterfield.
The young stopper has missed just four league games this season, playing a key role as the Spireites romped to promotion.
The 22-year-old was back between the sticks for the past two games, losing both, as the National League champions continue their dismal end to the term.
Despite this, Tyrer was in fine form as Paul Cook’s side fell to a 1-0 away defeat at Wealdstone, pulling off a string of saves to deny the hosts from stretching their lead.
The Gateshead loss was certainly a learning curve for the goalkeeper, however, conceding two penalties in a 2-1 loss!
Everton have done well to extend the services of the boyhood blue, who has racked up over 100 appearances in men’s football since the start of 2022/23.
Chesterfield play Maidenhead United at home on Saturday in their final game of the season.
Premier League:
Neal Maupay- 15th out of 20- Brentford
Maupay was back in the starting eleven for Brentford’s crucial win over relegation-threatened Sheffield United on Saturday.
The Frenchman played 79 minutes as the Bees triumphed 2-0 at Brammall Lane, giving themselves a seven point cushion from the drop.
Thomas Frank’s side face Luton Town next, in a game that spells a real chance of all but confirming their safety for next season.
Evertonian’s will desperately be hoping their loanee turns up for that one…
Mason Holgate- 20th out of 20- Sheffield United
Holgate featured the full 90 minutes in the Blades’ damaging defeat to Brentford, as the threat of relegation has firmly grabbed a hold of Chris Wilder’s side.
The defender performed well, however wasn’t able to wrestle back control of the match and claim some much-needed points.
Sheffield United face Burnley at home on Saturday, seeking to end an eight-game winless run.
National League North:
Zan-Luk Leban- 21st out of 24- Farsley Celtic
The pressure is well and truly on for Leban and Celtic, as they find themselves in the last relegation spot heading into the final day.
Clayton Donaldson’s squad have been on the slide since Christmas, winning just one of their last 13 matches.
Despite this poor run of form, the 21-year-old has been solid, gaining valuable experience and withstanding the rigours of non-league football.
The goalkeeper was in electric form in a crushing 1-0 defeat to relegation rivals Peterborough Sports, producing heroics to keep his side in the game.
Saturday’s loss at Darlington has taken the fight to the last day, as the Citadel plays host to 14th placed Buxton, whilst Blyth Spartans, who sit above them only on goal difference, face third-place Brackley Town at home.
League One:
Elijah Campbell- 23rd out of 24- Fleetwood Town
Fleetwood’s relegation is all but confirmed after Tuesday night’s 4-1 defeat away to Peterborough United.
Campbell has found himself on the bench for the previous three games, playing just 12 minutes away to Blackpool since a heavy defeat at Oxford United.
The Cod Army travel to Leyton Orient on Saturday with anything less than three points sending them down to League Two.
Scottish Championship:
Sean McAllister- 8th out 10- Inverness Caledonian Thistle
McAllister remains unavailable for selection due to injury, as Duncan Ferguson’s successful season continues.
Inverness’ 1-0 victory over Queen’s Park saw them leapfrog the latter, going two points clear of the relegation play-off in the process.
They meet Raith Rovers next, in another important clash at the foot of the table, as Ferguson looks to pull off the great escape.
