Arsenal v Everton

Everton are closing out the Premier League season against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday. This match is key to Arsenal if they want to have a shot a the title race. Are we to be the party poopers?

Everton rewind (May 11th)

Everton welcomed a relegated Sheffield United to Goodison for the last home game of the season. Everton were the hotter team out the gate and it was evident within the first 15 minutes. Everton out shot Sheffield 5-1 in the first 30 minutes of the match, Sheffield’s only shot being off target.

In the 31st minute via some patient footwork and vision from Dominic Calvert-lewin, Doucoure would head home what is possibly the easiest goal of his career. Doucoure made a smart and direct run into the Sheffield six yard box with no other Everton players around him, he finished the shot to put Everton up 1-0.

The rest of the match would be less than exciting with a few chances falling for Everton but nothing of true danger. Sheffield displayed their main reason for relegation, lack of potency in the attacking end. The match would end 1-0 to Everton and once again we claim 3 more points at home, a great way to thank the fans for their unrelenting support.

Arsenal Vs. Manchester United (May 12th)

Arsenal took on a very limp Manchester United at Old Trafford in hopes of keeping their title race alive. The match was very entertaining throughout its entirety. Arsenal were dominant to start the game and it remained that way for the whole match. In the 20th minute Kai Havertz danced his way to the endline and found Trossard inches away from the goal line where he (Trossard) put it home with ease.

Manchester United did not look too dangerous and could not penetrate the wall that is Saliba and Gabriel. Arsenal on the other hand kept Onana busy, but credit to Onana for standing on his head and keeping United in the game. The game would end with that 1-0 scoreline from the first half and only one team goes into the final week with something to play for.

Everton: Key Player

James Tarkowski, my player of the year will be pivotal in the final match of the season. Tarky is in the 96th percentile for headers won, and according to Transfermrkt Arsenal have allowed 16 goals from corner kicks thus far. We know how sound he is in defense alongside Branthwaite but without possession, set pieces are going to be how we earn our chances on Sunday.

Arsenal: Key Player

Kai Havertz, a man in form! an easy pick to say the least. The last five matches he has been on fire. He has tallied 3 goals and 2 assists in previous five games. He’s been able to play more fluently and with a bit of confidence as well. The eye test is what makes Havertz and easy pick. He finds space so well and plays others into space, his vision and ability with the ball are night and day from his Chelsea ghost.

Final thoughts

What a season this has been! From point deductions to climbing up the table to safety, and more point deductions and we found our way BACK TO SAFETY AGAIN. We are here to stay! Regardless of how the last match goes, I am proud of what we overcame. UTFT
