Hello, and welcome to another loan report. A busy week with plenty to divulge for many young blues. Let’s get straight into it with League Two.
League Two:
Billy Crellin- Accrington Stanley- 20th out of 24
Crellin continued his impressive form on Saturday, putting in a Man of the Match performance in a 0-0 draw with Walsall.
The 24-year-old stopper was on hand to deny the visitors with a string of saves, in another excellent display from the loanee.
Accrington are in FA Cup action next, as they face Rushall Olympic this weekend.
Jenson Metcalfe- Chesterfield- 6th out 24
Metcalfe completed the full 90 minutes of Chesterfield’s 5-2 win at Morecambe, as the newly promoted club jumped into the play-off places for the first time this season.
Victory on the road makes it eight games unbeaten for the Spireites, with the midfielder starting the past three in this run.
The 20-year-old does have to watch his step, however, after picking up his fourth booking of the campaign in Saturday’s win- one away from a suspension.
Paul Cook’s side host Horsham in the FA Cup next.
Francis Okoronkwo- Salford City- 12th out of 24
Okoronkwo was the hero for his side in midweek, salvaging a point at the death with a smart finish in a 2-2 draw at Fleetwood Town.
Having been on the bench for both Saturday’s away win and Wednesday’s clash, the 20-year-old made his mark as a late sub, peeling off his man to steer home Kelly N’Mai’s low cross in the 98th minute.
Salford are in cup action this weekend, as they take on Shrewsbury Town.
League One:
Tyler Onyango- Stockport County- 10th out of 24
Onyango made his first appearance for the Hatters since September on Tuesday night, registering an assist in a 4-1 win against Reading.
The 21-year-old produced a moment of magic for the opener, striding from the halfway line to the edge of the Royals’ box, before laying off to Will Collar who made no mistake.
Stockport welcome National League side Forest Green Rovers to Edgeley Park on Saturday.
Harry Tyrer- Blackpool- 16th out of 24
Tyrer found himself out of the team for Blackpool’s 2-2 home draw to Wigan Athletic, with interim boss Steve Agnew opting for Richard O’Donnell’s experience instead.
The goalkeeper is dislodged off the back of a 5-1 drubbing at Peterborough United, having kept goal for eight consecutive games prior.
Tyrer will be hoping to be back between the sticks at Gillingham on Saturday.
Championship:
Mason Holgate- West Bromwich Albion- 5th out of 24
Holgate made his second Baggies debut this weekend, appearing as a 79th minute substitute in a 0-0 draw to Cardiff City at the Hawthorns.
The defender was initially a doubt for the fixture having picked up a knock whilst on international duty with Jamaica.
West Brom travel to Luton Town on Friday, looking to end their 6 game winless run.
Scottish Premiership:
Elijah Campbell- Ross County- 8th out of 12
Campbell was back in the team on Wednesday following a suspension, playing the full 90 minutes in a goalless draw with Hibernian.
The 20-year-old operated in a left wing-back role, as Ross County continued their steady start to the campaign.
Don Cowie’s side take on St. Mirren next.
Ligue 1:
Neal Maupay- Marseille- 3rd out of 18
Maupay was an unused substitute in Marseille’s 3-0 home defeat to league leaders PSG.
The striker will now gear up to face Nantes on Sunday.
Challenger Pro League:
Reece Welch- Deinze- 6th out of 16
Welch made his long-awaited debut for Deinze, coming off the bench in a last gasp home defeat to RWD Molenbeek.
Hans Somers gifted the defender his first appearance for the club in the 91st minute, only for the visitors to snatch all three points two minutes later.
Deinze slide to 6th, and travel to Royal Antwerp on Friday in the Croky Cup.
