Hello, and welcome back to another loan report. Let’s dive straight in and see how the lads performed over the weekend…
National League:
Harry Tyrer- Chesterfield- 1st out of 24
Tyrer’s impressive form continued again this week, as the stopper recorded his eighth clean sheet of the season in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Woking.
Victory for Chesterfield sees them stretch their lead at the top to 13 points, having lost just three of their 28 league matches to date.
Tyrer has featured in 26 of those games in what has been a successful season for the goalkeeper up to now.
The Spireites are back in action on Saturday at home to 12th placed Southend United.
Premier League:
Neal Maupay- Brentford- 14th out of 20
Maupay has been electric in front of goal lately, and he continued his ruthless streak with a dipping volley to hand Brentford all three points against Nottingham Forest.
The Frenchman’s left-foot connected perfectly with the ball, nestling into the bottom right corner after a clever turn to give the Bees the all important winner on Saturday.
Whilst all eyes have been on Ivan Toney’s return, Maupay has quietly gone about his business, scoring in three consecutive games to make it five goals in 20 appearances this season.
Should he continue his red hot form, the chances of Everton receiving a fee for the striker will certainly be a lot more likely…
Championship:
Mason Holgate- Southampton- 3rd out of 24
The defender was an unused substitute once more on Saturday, as Southampton beat Swansea City 3-1 away from home.
Victory at the Liberty Stadium ensured the Saints closed the gap to within a point of Ipswich Town in second, but for Holgate, it’s now 12 games on the spin without a league appearance.
The 27-year-old continues to be linked with a move away from St. Mary’s, with Sheffield United rumoured to be interested in signing the player.
Southampton are back in action on Sunday- away to Watford in the FA Cup Fourth Round.
National League North:
Zan-Luk Leban- Farsley Celtic- 14th out of 24
Leban’s run of back-to-back clean sheets came to an end on Tuesday, as Celtic lost 2-1 away to South Shields- a defeat which leaves them nine points adrift of the play-off spots.
The goalkeeper is back in action on Saturday at Chorley as he searches for his tenth shutout of the season.
