Match Preview| Burnley (H)

So after 2 wins and a god awful draw at home on Wednesday night, we’re rewarded with another home game against Burnley. Sean Dyche will bring his hard Brexit squad and his cement throated voice to Goodison in search of another impressive away performance following a win at Stamford Bridge, a last minute equaliser at Wembley against Spurs and something that we’ll never be able to do; get a point at Anfield. 5 points from a possible 9 away at those 3 teams is something I can only dream of being an Everton fan. They set up to defend, soak up all the pressure and catch teams on the break. They’re also strong in the air.

On paper we should batter these, our squad’s miles better than theirs but we’ve got the most ignorant manager in the league and despite having all these boss players, he doesn’t play them in the right way.

Playing 3 defensive midfielders against shit teams like Sunderland, Bournemouth, Apollon Limassol and Burnley doesn’t work. Our midfield is too crowded with players of the same position and because it was Koeman who signed them all, he feels like he has to play them all. Lookman, Mirallas and Vlasic are all out and out wingers but he’ll put Sigurðsson on the wing tomorrow and leave Lookman completely out of the team. He’s boss but he’s wasted with us and I wouldn’t blame him if went to Spurs. He should start tomorrow, as should Vlasic who changed the game on Thursday. Calvert-Lewin should be the first name on the teamsheet and he should be alongside Niasse or Sandro, preferably Niasse. All I ask for is 2 wingers and an attacking midfield, get at them and put 8 past them.

If we don’t win tomorrow then Koeman will be under a hell of a lot pressure from the fans. He needs to start his best squad if he wants to keep his job. A must win game not only for our league position but also for his job.

Up the toffees!
