Manchester United come to Goodison this Sunday for the continuation of the Premier League season. Everton look to recover some of their deducted points with a statement win over Manchester United.

Everton rewind

Everton last time out earned a thrilling win over Palace, 3-2 once again! Mykolenko (the best LB in the EPL) opened the scoring early with his second goal in two matches. Palace would not be behind for long due to Eze not being able to stay up on his own two feet, Eze should be nominated for an oscar for his acting skills on the pitch. Eze scores a penalty, a soft penalty in the fifth minute.

Shortly after half, Doucoure would put the Toffees ahead once again but it would not last. Edouard would be gifted a goal in the 73′, Tarkowski and Pickford had a lapse of communication and judgment which allowed the ball to fall to the foot of Edouard about six yards out, a great touch and finish would see the Eagles level it.

Alas! the boys would not give up like we’ve seen in the past, a diligent effort of keeping the ball forward and numbers forward would result in another goal! but a goal from who else? Gana-Gueye! A great ball by Doucoure and a striker’s touch and finish by Gueye would see Everton claim all three points.

Manchester United Vs. Luton Town (11/11/23)

Manchester United’s last action was against Luton Town in a 1-0 victory. The game was quite the bore, Kaminski held Luton Town level with Man U for most of the game but a parried shot would find its way out to Lindelof who slammed it home from eight yards out. Beating Luton Town isn’t for everyone but with a squad like Man U’s, it should have been done early in the first half…although Man U have not been playing all that well.

Manchester United now have won back to back league matches for the second time this season.

Everton key player

Jordan Pickford- A stout defensive performance and a commanding performance by Jordan Pickford will be crucial to us seeing out a result Sunday. JP is coming off of a good international break with England and I hope to see his footwork and distribution translate to club football. We will once again cede possession as we always do so keeping Man U at bay for a majority of the game will be key, as we MAY not have multiple chances.

Man U will have a handful of great chances I presume and JP will be called upon many times. Pickford has a save percentage of 67.4% per match but does allow 1.42 goals per match. JP has been pivotal for us every season since he’s arrived so it should be no different Sunday. Expect a world class performance.

Manchester United key player

Bruno Fernandes- Personally my least favorite United player but probably their most talented player by far. Fernandes has five goal involvements thus far into the season, but offers more than just goal contributions. He has a passing percentage of 77% on average but an astounding 4.0 xA PER 90. They play through him and he facilitates the entire midfield.

He can play in tight spaces, something that is not good news for Everton. Everton love a low block under Dyche, we also let people dilly on the ball around the 18 for stints of the match. Bruno will find tight pockets to play the ball into which could cause trouble for us. He also has 61 shot creating actions throughout the season so far, these include earning a foul.

I’m not partial to divers so I do hope we take note of that and not foul him in dangerous areas because he will be rewarded with a free kick or even worse, a penalty.

Final thoughts

With all that has taken place in the last two weeks, I sure hope we put a beat down on Man U and send a message to the Premier League. We will not be taken down that easily, we are a club with a new culture, a new mindset and a will to earn results. I am sure Dyche will put us in a prime position to claim all three, and who knows, Mykolenko might just score again. UTFT
