Toffee Blues Player Of The Month – March 2025

Toffee Blues Player of the Month March 2025

Two matches in March saw two draws for the toffees, who have continued to show that they are side that are changed and now difficult to beat under David Moyes. Despite only playing two matches, there were several difference makers in the month of March. This is the Toffee Blues Player of the Month, for the month of March.

FOURTH PLACE – JORDAN PICKFORD (1 VOTE)

In fourth place is Jordan Pickford, who has captained one of the more stingy defenses in the league for vast stretches of this season. England’s number one, he has stood on his head more than once for Everton this season. He made 5 saves in the match against West Ham and another 2 against Wolves. He has kept 9 clean sheets on the year and saved both penalties he has faced.

It is a secret only to those who do not watch Everton that Pickford is likely the most important man in the squad and has been for several years now. The blues are likely a championship outfit at some point in the last four years if not for his constant superhero like saves in goal. He has a whopping 85 saves on the season to go along with an impressive 70.2% save rate. A man who is hopefully an Everton lifer, no matter the month he is always a shout for the Toffee Blues player of the Month.

THIRD PLACE – CARLOS ALCARAZ (2 VOTES)

In third place is the new man Carlos ‘Chucky’ Alcaraz, slotting in at third for the Toffee Blues Player of the Month. He came on as a substitute in the match against Wolves, and started and played the full 90 minutes against West Ham. He has played everywhere for the toffees, centrally and on the wings as he has shown that his dynamism is a trait that has been sorely missed in the Everton attack.

Against West Ham he completed 36/42 of his passes, and covered an exceptional amount of ground to keep the blues attack flowing. The robust Argentinian has been a very valuable asset since his signing in January, and his rumored 18 million Euro buy clause is set to be triggered should he play 5 more matches. It seems to be a no-brainer for most in a team that is lacking attacking quality, sign him up.

SECOND PLACE – IDRISSA GUEYE (5 VOTES)

Idrissa Gana Gueye

A man who needs no introduction, at 35 years old Idrissa Gueye continues to be arguably the most important man in David Moyes’s starting eleven. A near every week starter, his form has not dipped in the month of March, posting impressive 7.7 and 7.8 ratings, including an outrageous match tying assist against West Ham to set up the late equalizer.

His defensive statistics this season have been otherworldly, he has won 66 tackles at a rate of 60%, and has won 173 duels at a 57% clip. He has 35 interceptions on the year, to go along with a surprisingly high 80% cross accuracy. A true engine in the midfield, it looks likely that he will continue with the toffees into next year as the heart and soul of the engine room. He has been indispensable.

FIRST PLACE – JAKE O’BRIEN (15 VOTES)

Jake O'Brien Toffee Blues Player of The Month March 2025

In first place, it is the man who has been revitalized since the hiring of David Moyes. Jake O’Brien, who had been left languishing on the bench under Sean Dyche, has found himself thriving at right-back for Everton. He has started and played a full 90 minutes eight straight Premier League matches under the new manager, and has been indispensable at a position where the blues have really struggled for quality this season.

He has two goals, including the stoppage time winner against West Ham in March. He has shown that attacking threat as well as being a stalwart on the defending end of the pitch. O’Brien has won 61% of his aerial duels to go alongside 57% of his duels on the grass. He has been dribbled past this season only 3 times, and has shown his quality as an attacker to surprise some at times, boasting a rather decent 40% crossing accuracy. It goes without saying that O’Brien, even slightly out of position, has been a revelation. He looks to figure heavily into Everton’s plans in 2025, and is a deserving Player of the Month for March.
