Asmir Begovic is set to make a return to Everton following his release from Queens Park Rangers at the end of last season. Orignally reported by Mark McAdam of Sky Sports and now backed by numerous outher credible journalists such as Fabrizio Romano, The 37-year old Bosnian is in talks to return to Goodison Park for a second spell, following his two seasons at the club from when he joined in 2021 on a free transfer under Rafa Benitez
The veteran keeper made 46 appearances for QPR last season keeping 13 cleansheets, a stark contrast to the 4 appearances made for the Toffees during his 2 season spell. However, last season should show that he still might have a lot left to offer a club and his experience could be a vital addition to Sean Dyche’s squad, who are without a third-choice keeper following the departure of Andy Lonergan at the end of his contract.
Begovic sits alongside Tim Howard as one of the five goalkeepers to score a goal in the Premier League and has a lengthy CV having spent time at Portsmouth, Stoke City, Bournemouth and Chelsea amongst others.

5/5 – I don’t think anyone was expecting to read this rumour but at the same time, are any of us really surprised? Begovic would arrive on a free and likely be on low wages. He would provide depth and more expeirnece to the position and likely sit behind Virginia as back up to Pickford or push Joao Virginia down to third chouce. It is not the most glamorous signing the club will make but at the same time it is one of low risk.
The club have conducted their business early in the window and further signings look to be uncertain, so on this occasion it might be best not to look a gift horse in the mouth (yes, I did look for ways to get a horse reference into this article).
