Jordan Pickford has started off the World Cup campaign well with a 6-2 opening group match win against Iran. The blues goalie has performed well for Everton so far this season but has made an error or two but cannot be at fault for Everton’s poor recent run of form.

Everton have been in negations with Pickford over signing a new contract at the club for some time now with the Goalkeeper’s contract expiring in the summer of 2024. Frank Lampard spoke about Pickford’s contract situation earlier in the season saying “The club are speaking with Jordan. He is a massive player for us, everyone wants him to stay and Jordan is very happy here.”

Recent reports have linked England’s Number one to fellow Premier League side Chelsea.

Fabrizio Romano has spoken with CaughtOffside exclusively and said how Jordan Pickford is one of the Goalkeepers that Chelsea are monitoring with the intention to possibly replace both Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Frank Lampard sees the 28 year old as a key player to is side and hoping that the England international will sign a new contract with the blues and stay on Merseyside. Everton’s financial issues could potentially however see them look to sell Pickford who is seen as a prized asset to the club and is one of very few players who could command a high transfer fee.

Toffee Blues says;

3/5 – Everton are in a critical time regarding Jordan Pickford and his contract situation, this coming summer he will enter the final year of his contract and Everton cannot afford to be allowing that to happen as Pickford’s value will only get lower and lower. The options Everton have are get Pickford to sign a new contract in the next 6 months or sell the England international in the summer of 2023 for as high a fee as possible. Chelsea do currently look the best option to sign Pickford with the performances of both Mendy and Kepa looking lackluster.

The blues should be assessing their current goalkeeper options and if Pickford is to end up leaving a hunt for a new Goalkeeper should be swift. Here is hoping though Everton can tie Pickford down to a new long term deal soon…
