Fabrizio Romano has said that Tottenham stopped midfielder Harry Winks from joining the blues this summer!
Transfer expert Romano said on his Here We Go Podcast;
“Winks had a serious opportunity with Everton because Everton were really appreciating this player but ‘no way’ for Tottenham,”
“They wanted an important proposal. They were not prepared to sell Winks for low money.”
The 25 year old England midfielder had been linked with a move to Everton numerous times during the summer with Romano himself announcing days before the Transfer Deadline that there was interest in Winks from the toffees.
Our thoughts;
It’s clear that Rafa Benitez is not 100% happy with his current midfield options and would like to add to it. The big question, is Harry Winks good enough and would he make that much of an impact on the pitch to make a difference. I myself do not rate Winks that highly and I have even seen Spurs fans that aren’t that keen on him either which doesn’t bode well.
Everton need to start learning that sometimes Premier League experience isn’t essential when signing a player and that they will likely find cheaper options which could contribute more in the Championship or abroad.
