Deadline Day Preview!

With deadline day here we’ve decided to take a look at a few deals which could go through on a day which looks to be a pivotal day for Everton’s season.

Incoming:

Nikola Vlašić;
One signing that definitely looks like happening will be the winger/ attacking midfielder from our europa league play off opponents Hajduk Split. The 19 year old has been sought after by Arsenal and Chelsea in the past, and is highly praised back in Croatia being likened to Luka Modric. No wonder when he has already played 100 games for split at only 19 scoring 15 goals in that time. He also recently made his debut for the Croatian national team earlier this year. With a reported fee of £9 million agreed Vlasic was given permission to leave Croatias u21 set up to sort out a medical and sign a contract, so expect this one to be done very soon.

Fernando Llorente;
The Swansea forward is being linked as the big target man that the club is looking for, definitely a threat in the box but for a reported 25 million at the age of 32 is it really worth it, as our team is slow enough already in my opinion this would only increase to the painfully slow build up speed of our attacks. However with Sigurdssons deliveries you’d expect Llorente to bag a few goals throughout the season. In fairness to him he has always scored goals at whatever club he’s been at scoring 15 in 33 for Swansea last season.
However this deal is looking unlikely as Chelsea are emerging as front runners.

Jamie Vardy;
A link which earlier in the week looked promising but has fizzled out a little in recent days, is Jamie Vardy. The Leicester man who is reportedly been linked to a 40 million move, in my opinion would be perfect for us with his pace, movement, aggression and finishing ability. Especially with Sigurdsson picking him out with through balls over the top it’s just what we need. At the age of 30 you could argue that he is too old like Llorente, but at two years younger, and he also definitely hasn’t lost any of his pace or ability, as he hit his prime later than most. So this is the striker I’d want us to bring in on deadline day. With 64 goals in 169 appearances for Leicester.

Ben Gibson;
With Koeman saying he would like to bring in a left sided centre back the only real strong link has been to Ben Gibson the Middlesbrough man at the age of 24 is being linked to a 20 million move. Personally I don’t know too much about him but boro fans seem reluctant to let him go which must be a good sign. Man City are also interested if a move for Johnny Evans is too fall through. With 144 appearances for boro and 10 for England u21 he definitely carries experience for a young man.

Diego Costa;
A rumour that seemed to be catching pace earlier in the week has died down a bit, and has not really been reported in England more over in Spain, is that Costa will move to Athletico Madrid but he loaned to us for 6 months, as Madrid have a transfer embargo in place. For me personally this would be a great move and give us more time to bring in a high Calibre striker come January. Even if it takes him a few games to regain fitness after missing pre season I wouldn’t care. We will certainly get goals out of him as a proven world class striker.
Also his attitude would suit us nicely as our team can be custom to being too nice and lieing down against bigger teams, a mentality that needs changing and Costa would definitely help with that.

Outgoing

Ross Barkley;
The wantaway midfielder has rejected a contract offer and with the contract expiring next year and Barkley out injured until December, I’d take the money and run. Chelsea have had a 25 million bid rejected a fee that seems small considering coutinho is going for 150 million but I’d rather that than letting him go for free next summer. Nobody wants to see Ross go but his lack of development and inability to take criticism is what has hindered him during his Everton career, and I can’t see that changing at Chelsea where he will be under more lime light. You could argue that we put to much pressure on him but in my opinion his attitude is just not there.

Oumar Niasse;
The 13 million flop signed under Martinez who didn’t score a goal for us and will go down as one of the worst Everton signings of all time, could be on the move to Brighton or Palace, with a reported 10 million fee being thrown around. You can’t fault the lads attitude scoring 6 times for our u23 last season, before going out on loan to Hull where he scored lots of important goals nearly keeping them up. The one blues most remember is his goal against Liverpool to sink the reds to a 2-0 defeat. Unlike Barkley he has not once moaned publicly, and I respect that and wish him the best of luck in the future.

With deadline day now here the crazy day starts and Everton fans will be biting their nails in hope that Everton can pull off some deadline day magic!

*Cue a disappointing day from start to finish*
