Everton legend and all-round philanthropist Neville Southall MBE will be the very special guest at an event this month in aid of Penny Dinners Cork, an establishment committed to feeding a nourishing, midday meal, to those in need.
Taking place on 22 June at Cork’s Fitzgibbon’s Pub, the evening will be held in partnership with Fans Supporting Foodbanks, a joint initiative of EST1878 and Spirit of Shankly which is dedicated in collecting food for the needy of the city of Liverpool.
Open to all, the only criteria for attending is to bring a non-perishable item, or items, which will be distributed to those less fortunate.
Event coordinator Cian Long, a true Blue and ardent campaigner of charitable causes, staged a similar occasion with Kevin Sheedy and is once again looking forward to offering the Blue royalty a lot more than just a few hours of Q & A with adoring fans, as he explains:
“We want our Everton events to be a lot more than just introducing a legend to a pub and having then talking for a few hours, we want to give them a great experience of beautiful Crosshaven.
“We are supporting a great cause, celebrating the Blues and its history, but also looking to promote the village we live in.
“We had Kevin Sheedy over in February and that was a huge success,” continued Cian. “Now Neville will be treated to a stay in Crosshaven House, enjoy a tour of the historical Camden Fort Meagher, before eating at Bunnyconnellan Cork.
“It always great to get together with fellow Blues, but to do it in aid of something which dedicates time, support and food to those that need it, really makes it special.
“And who better than Neville Southall as our special guest.”
As well as Everton’s record first-team appearance holder, Southall is a tireless campaigner for a multitude of causes and regularly allows his Twitter handle, @NevilleSouthall, to be taken over on a regular basis to provide a greater voice to those who often struggle to find a voice in today’s society.
